Sometimes, life is just plain stressful...

I think I might qualify for suffering a mental breakdown. But then, I guess every college student does now and again.

It’s April 16th. The Sun is shining, the breeze is blowing (maybe a little too powerfully I might add), and the Ohio State campus is as beautiful as ever. I just got back from a trip to Toronto, Canada (which I’ll be sure to tell you all about). I got a 98% on my Spanish quiz, and my professor told me that I could turn in an assignment late since I was gone in Canada for four days. Not to mention, I managed to both take a shower AND put on makeup this morning before class.

So what, you say, is the problem? Well, that’s a pretty good question actually. It just seems that every once in a while, every college student just. breaks. down. Maybe it’s lack of sleep, maybe it’s too many assignments, and for many, it’s Finals Week or Midterms time, but I am convinced that college students, despite our best efforts to demonstrate otherwise, are just big babies whose only desire sometimes is to sleep, eat, and cry.

For my roommate, that time is on Math Homework Wednesday or Finals Week. For my boyfriend, that time was just a couple weeks ago after returning from spring break. For one of my best friends on campus, that time was last week. And for me, that time is now.

Don’t get me wrong, there’s a lot that has been going right in the past couple weeks. There just has also been a lot of stuff going, well, wrong. Last week was the week that never ended. I felt stressed beyond belief, had a hard time finding time to eat let alone sleep, and had a gazillion tests, quizzes, and important assignments that needed to get done.

And that baasically ended in me crying into my boyfriend’s shirt and my friends’ ears nearly every night, feeling like nothing could go my way. I didn’t even have spare time enough to call my parents, when honestly that’s really all I wanted to do. Because let me tell you, in all seriousness, when us college kids get upset, this is precisely what we turn into:

Because sometimes you just need mommy and daddy to tell you that you still have someone who believes in you.
But, as things go, I ended up having to leave a stress-torn week not with the promise of sleeping in and munching popcorn in front of sappy movies, but with instead missing classes and having to get packed to leave the country. It was a fun-filled weekend that I won’t soon forget, but it was definitely hard to come back and dive right in to the stresses of the week running on little sleep and lack of patience. Today’s list?
  1. Woke up later than I had planned
  2. Found out we had to rewrite an essay by Spanish class today, emailed my teacher to ask for an extension since I had been out of the country, didn’t hear back, wrote the entire essay over again instead of working on my speaking project for class today, and at the last minute received an email from my professor saying that I could turn it in Wednesday >:(
  3. Rushed late to my first class of the week
  4. Didn’t pay attention in that class at all, but instead rushed to jot down my speech for Spanish
  5. Completely choked on my Spanish presentation once I got to the last sentences
  6. Struggled to get to bio lecture on time, forgot my response clicker
  7. Practically ran back to my dorm to grab it and panted while booking it back to class. In my black jacket. In the outside heat.
  8. Was gross and sweaty upon my return, started crying a tad. Melodramatic, I know.
  9. Got like 3 of the bio questions wrong anyways.
  10. Felt completely and totally stressed, got angry with my boyfriend, plopped myself face-down on the grass next to Thompson Library and didn’t move a single muscle for at least 10 minutes.
Now, before you go thinking I’m completely off my rocker, cut me a little slack. I’ve got about 10 applications that I’ve finished/still have to finish within a span of about 3 weeks. Not to mention, Midterms and Exams this week as well as interviews for the applications that I have already submitted. And all I want to do is curl up and sleep for ages.

Sometimes, life is stressful. But life’s a funny thing. You won’t ever be faced with anything you can’t handle, and that’s an awesome thing to trust in. A big thank you to the YWAM group on the Oval today…they were really a blessing that I so needed. So, next time you’re feeling stressed. Go grab a jar of Nutella (shout out to my roommie!). Pull up Spotify and put on a playlist of some really relaxing songs that clear the mess in your head. Take a few moments to just breathe, fresh air if at all possible. Say a prayer, meditate, write or sing or jam out or take a really long shower or go to the RPAC hot tub or go work out the stress…whatever works for you. Remember that life can be funny, and it can really seem like it’s out to get you sometimes, but just keep saying to yourself that this too shall pass. :)
Peace. ☮

Song of the day: Move Along by the All-American Rejects
Why: An oldie, but a goodie. Since I discovered it in eighth grade, this song has never failed to help me feel as though I can get through whatever’s bringing me down!

  1. My girlfriend left me to be with another man. I was desperate to get her back, I’ve wasted so much time and money on getting my lover back after I have tried almost all possibilities to have her back and nothing worked. I was alone 2 years. To make it short Then I found dr.marnish by accident. I don’t know how I found him, I don’t remember. But, when I first saw the good testimonies about his wonderful work and after reading the Testimonials, I decided I had to try and give it one last shot. After the spells, a miracle happened, my girlfriend called me and asked me to meet her in the restaurant where we usually go to eat. So i did, and that night we ended up sleeping together. anyone who needs help, should email dr.marnish@yahoo.com. He is the best.

  2. When I married my husband I was already pregnant and so I didn't have a job. He had a really good job though so I was able to stay home and take care of our son when it was born. When we had our second child we moved to a bigger house, but then strange things started to happen. Things would fly off the walls and doors would slam at night. Our oldest son talked about seeing figures and hearing voices. We consulted a medium and they said the house was haunted. After living there about a year more with only minor occurrences we moved out. That was when the bad luck started to happen. Everything started to fail, with my husband's job, our money and our luck in general. I went back to the same medium and they told me that a spirit had followed me and placed a curse upon me for disturbing it and not being respectful in the previous house. He tried to remove it but was unable. The misfortune kept going on and getting more severe as I tried to search out someone to break the curse. But when I found Dr.Azonto spell he finally did it. Things started turning around almost immediately after he cast the spell and have been great from there! This was really a miracle for us, thank you . azontotemple@yahoo.com spell from the bottom of my heart!
